Economy Minister Jean-Claude Marcourt, who is heading a Belgian delegation of manufacturers and reporters currently touring several large Chinese cities, chose to make a special trip to Macau in order to meet Franco.
On this morning of 24 June, the entire delegation was able to visit The City of Dreams, the setting for Franco’s new water-based show The House of the Dancing Water.
With Franco as their guide, these reporters and business/political leaders will have been among the first to have stepped into this extraordinary theatre, where the finishing touches on rehearsals are currently taking place.
Franco used this occasion to look back on the long tradition of meetings and exchanges that have linked China with Hainaut, from the time of Raoul Warocqué’s mission to China in 1910, to the twinning of the Hainaut Province with the Hunan Province in 1985, and still yet the role played by the Mariemont Museum in the Europalia China Festival, which just recently closed its doors. A tradition of cultural openness in which he himself is now taking part.
Minister Marcourt was also able to have a discussion with Franco and representatives from the Melco group, owners of The City of Dreams and partners of the Franco Dragone Entertainment Group.
